Central High School of Clay County Volunteers Marching Band will be embracing its crazy side this football season.
"When it came to picking the theme this year, we went a little off book," Russell Hathcock, CCHS band director, said. "I have always wanted to do a "Crazy" theme and this year it just worked out."
The Marching Volunteers will open the show with Prince's "Let's Go Crazy" followed by Queen's "Crazy Little Thing Called Love."
"This is where it gets interesting," Hathcock said. "We are writing a version of Patsy Cline's 'Crazy' and then halfway through we transition into Ozzy Osbourne's 'Crazy Train' before closing the show going back to Patsy Cline's 'Crazy.'
"We are being ambitious with this show, but the kids seem to love it," he said.
The Marching Volunteers are under the field direction of Caitlin Cline.
"She was a flute player for us for several years and was a section leader before taking the helm this year," Hathcock said.
The Marching Volunteers consist of 90 members and will compete in two band competitions this fall.
