The Handley Band is taking on a more theatrical performance this year by performing music from the musical Les Miserables.   The song selection includes, “Do You Hear the People Sing”, “Look Down”, “Master of the House”, and “I Dreamed a Dream”.  “This is a very different show because of the theatrical elements involved. Students are really enjoying the visual elements as well as more body movements and horn moves” says Band Director, Jesse Tiner.  Tiner goes on to explain “we have a new Pearl drum line and flags that will enhance the theatrical elements.  Auxiliary will have a Friday night uniform and a special Les Miserables time period costume to use at contests”.
Band camp was “awesome” says Tiner, We put the entire show on the field by Thursday of the second week. The students have worked extremely hard rain and shine, inside and out! Their progress since day 1 is very impressive.” The 2013 Handley High School Marching Band includes 82 members.  The band is being lead by Drum Major, Justice Knight. Section leaders include Ali Pike, flutes and Preston Winkles, clarinets.
