‘Southern Sounds and Florida Bound’ to Thrill Woodland Crowds

Football 2013
Story by Leisel Caldwell

The Woodland High School Band will take the field on Friday nights with 72 members.  The theme of this year’s show is “Southern Sounds and Florida Bound”.   Mr. Hamilton, the band director says “the band is pushing hard on the concept that we are one band working towards one goal and not a group of individuals working on multiple goals thanks to the Outback Bowl invite.”
Musical selections for the half time show include: “7 Bridges Road”, “Heartache Tonight”, “Gimme 3 Steps”, “Dixieland Delight” and “My Home's in Alabama"
Leadership roles in the band this year  are Drum Major - Timothy Brooks,  Flag Captain - Mellisa Nobbley,  Dance Captain -- Beth Crenshaw,  Percussion Captain - Lane Mitch.
The band has been fundraising since being invited to perform at the 2014 Outback Bowl in Tampa Florida on New Year’s Day.  The band will march in The Outback Bowl Parade on New Year’s Eve and will perform at half time during the game in a mass band setting with other bands who were invited from across the country.
Editor’s Note: A group photo of the Woodland Marching Band was not available at press time.
